If you want to taste typical specialties and handmade food, you should visit the markets in the area! All the markets in Gyenesdiás, Keszthely, Hévíz and Káptalantóti offer different local products and a special atmosphere – so it’s worth exploring them all! In Káptalantóti, the ‘Liliomkert’ market is a real curiosity, where the best traders of the area offer their products on Sunday mornings. Don’t have too much breakfast beforehand, or you won’t be able to taste all the delicacies!
You should also take time for culinary delights. Enjoy a delicious dinner in one of the cozy restaurants or in one of the traditional taverns, such as St. Ilona Csárda, where a meal under the shady trees of the beautiful garden of the tavern is certainly the crowning of the day. You can also take part in a wine tasting in the Darnay Cellar, which is over 300 years old. Don’t miss the Bringatanya ice cream parlor near the local market either, where the numerous award-winning ice cream specialties are well worth sampling.
