If you are on foot, the Piroska Csárda is a good choice. In the cozy tavern you can choose between Hungarian cuisine and Szekler specialties. Also within walking distance is the Anita Restaurant, which offers special steaks as well as traditional Hungarian dishes on the menu.
One of our favorite restaurants is St. Ilona Csárda near the forest. Here you can enjoy home cooking, delicacies from the oven, seasonal specialties and a wide selection of wines.
If you are on your way home from a trip, we recommend the Torony Csárda on the main road, where we would also highlight the delicious game and fish dishes on the Hungarian menu.
If you get hungry on the beach, Friends Bistro at Gyenes beach is a good choice. They offer wood-fired pizzas, Italian dishes, grilled specialties and house specialties in a friendly atmosphere. At Diás beach we recommend Lobby Bistro and Komáromy Pizzeria.
You should also not miss the local market, which, unlike traditional markets, is also open in the afternoon and evening. In the homely place, in addition to regional products, freshly baked meat and fish dishes, lángos, pork chops, pancakes, Zala delicacies such as tócsi (potato pancakes) and dödölle, salads, homemade syrups, brandies, wines and beers are offered. In summer, the music evenings on Saturdays make the market even more cozy.
The neighboring Bringatanya Ice Cream Parlor is a must-visit on your way to the beach or during a walk. You’re sure to be delighted by the artisan ice cream parlor’s multi-award-winning ice cream specialties.
Another special place for a gastronomic experience is the Darnay Wine Cellar, the over 350-year-old wine cellar dating back to the Turkish era. In its garden or in the event barn you can participate in a wine tasting.
The local “Gastronomy Guide” will help you find your way around, and you can save a little with the Gyenesdiás Gastro Card. Ask for it when you arrive.
