Sports and play opportunities for young and old are also abundant in the surrounding area.
On the shore of Lake Balaton in Keszthely there are two playgrounds: a modern one on the promenade and a water playground, where children can play with water, next to the gastro street (so you don’t have to go hungry or thirsty). Furthermore, there is a fitness park, a table tennis table and a skateboard and roller rink.
In Zámor, on the outskirts of Keszthely, towards Gyenesdiás, there is a large playground, a fitness park and a basketball court.
There is also a ‘bike playground‘ in Keszthely, a small pump track for kids to try out with scooters, skateboards and roller skates.
If you’re going to Kis-Balaton, we highly recommend the ‘water playground’ in the courtyard of the Kis-Balaton Exhibition House in Zalavár: you can pump water from a well, divert the water, power bikes, etc. Be sure to remember to bring dry clothes for the little ones!
In Tapolca there is a playground near the Lake Cave, next to the Mill Pond. In the lake you can also see huge fish, and the stream that drains the water is also fascinating for children, while the School Museum shows how a school looked like in the times of our great-grandparents.
