One of the most beautiful parks of the area is the Baroque park of Festetics Palace in Keszthely. It is a combination of French and English gardens. Walking through the park you will come across a small pond, a romantic bridge and rocks, a lion fountain, old trees, even oaks almost 500 years old, a fan-leaf tree (Ginkgo biloba), which shine golden in autumn, and Japanese weeping acacias. You can find other plant specialties in the palm house.
In Hévíz you should visit the Water Lily path and the treetop lookout. You can take a relaxing walk through the forest around Lake Hévíz, observe water lilies in the stream and from the 15-meter high lookout point, from the height of the treetops, observe the town and the lake resort.
In the Folly Arboretum in Badacsonyörs you can enjoy the wonderful panorama of Lake Balaton in the midst of 400 coniferous trees, 100 year old cedars, cypresses and junipers. Shady resting places and a lookout tower await you, and the unique wooden play elements, such as the giant swing and the squirrel wheel, are not only for children. You can taste homemade syrups and wines, and if you are hungry, you can also visit the restaurant.
