Avar exhibition and handicraft workshop

Culture, Avar exhibition, Shepherd's House in Gyenesdiás

In the reed-roofed old house lived the shepherd of Gyenesdiás at that time. The shepherd’s house is a folk architectural monument and was built around the middle of the 19th century. In one of the rooms there is the exhibition about the history of the Avars. Here you can see how the Avars lived, dressed and buried themselves before they took over the land.

In the handicraft workshop, in the other room on Tuesdays you can make leather goods and jewelry from recycled materials – a nice souvenir of your vacation.

Family and music events are also held regularly in the cozy courtyard.
