14+1 Spas, thermal and adventure baths

Thermal Lake Hévíz, health cure in spring, autumn

Spring or autumn are the best times to relax and recharge your batteries in a thermal bath, but of course spas and leisure baths are also great programs on cooler, cloudy days in high season.

It is said that in Hungary you only have to dig a hole to find thermal water. This is perhaps a bit of an exaggeration, but even our ancestors found numerous mineral springs when searching for oil.

Thermal and medicinal waters are not only used for healing, but also for health care, prevention, recreation and well-being.

We collected a selection of spas within a distance of 100 km from our appartment houses, so that you can choose the one that suits you best:

Let’s start exceptionally with +1, the natural thermal lake of Hévíz, which is unique in the world:

+1: Lake Hévíz (8 km) – a unique natural wonder.
The healing effect of the water of Lake Hévíz was already discovered by the Romans, and the spa was founded by the Festetics family. The water temperature of the lake is 23-25 °C in winter and up to 33-36 °C in summer. The unique mixture of biologically active, highly sulphurous and slightly radon healing water has scientifically proven healing effects. The fantastic natural environment, the lake surrounded by a forest with its enchanting water lilies, guarantees spiritual renewal. Bathing in the healing water relaxes the muscles, relieves painful tension, calms the nerve system, provides the bones and joints with important nutrients and has an anti-inflammatory effect. The cure in Hévíz is of course much more complex than that, with many different treatments enhancing the effect, both preventive and therapeutic, but we will go into that in a next article.
