Zalaegerszeg

Culture, trip to the Oil Museum, Zalaegerszeg

In Zalaegerszeg, in the center of the Göcsej region, is the first ethnographic open-air museum in the country. The village museum is located on the bank of the Zala River. The old houses and a mill originate from the region and have been rebuilt here. You can feel here like in a real Göcsej village from the 19th century. If you stroll through the beautiful old farmhouses, you will find many interesting old objects.

There are even more interesting things to discover in the Oil Museum next door. In the open-air exhibition you can watch the amusing wobbling oil pumps up close. They are still an essential part of the landscape of Zala. You’ll also find derricks, self-propelled well repair equipment, well completion equipment, gas drilling equipment and more. In the exhibition halls you can get to know the production process from exploration to exploitation better with the help of models and a field table.

When you are in Zalaegerszeg, you should also try the slides and adventure pools of AquaCity.
